Our tour starts visiting The National Park Tijuca Forest. This place is always a guarantee of fresh air, mild weather, dazzling views and harmony with nature, besides having the privilege of knowing, in the middle of Rio de Janeiro city, the biggest urban forest replanted by mankind, with an area of almost 4,000 hectares of Atlantic forest. It is undoubtedly, a fundamental piece that makes Rio the Marvelous City.
The Chinese view has a privileged view of the city. This is probably the most spectacular view of Rio de Janeiro. The only place where you can see Christ the Redeemer and Sugar Loaf simultaneously. A real postcard of the city of Rio de Janeiro. Built between 1902 and 1906 as a tribute to the Chinese slaves who came to plant tea and rice in Brazil.
After the National Park we are going to the North of the city and downtown.
We will visit the iconic Maracanã stadium, the largest temple of soccer in the world. It hosted two World Cup finals as well as the Olympic Games of 2016.
The Carnival of Rio de Janeiro is known all over the world. It is considered by many “the greatest spectacle on earth”. We will visit the place where everything happens, the Sambodromo.
We will also visit the Metropolitan Cathedral of São Sebastião, built in 1979. It is known as the milestone of modern and bold architecture, imposing and functional, distinguished by its noble simplicity. In 1980 it was visited by Pope John Paul II, and in 2013, it was Pope Francis` turn. Now it will be yours!
From the cathedral we will start a Walking Tour through the Center of Rio, we can observe the day by day of the Cariocas and we can also visit traditional places like Colombo Coffee Shop. The most famous Coffee Shop in Rio, a historical gem of Rio’s architecture and gastronomy.
This are some of the attractions during our walk: (Santo Antonio Monastery, Colombo Café, Ouvidor street, Our lady do Carmo Church, XV Square, Arco das Teles, Cinelandia, National Theater, National Library)
Finally, we will visit the monument and icon of Rio de Janeiro, Selaron Staircase. The gigantic mosaic is the work of the Chilean artist Jorge Selaron, a true tour around the world. Among the more than six thousand pieces that form it, there are tiles from about 140 countries, many of them given to the artist by tourists and fans of his art. Located between Lapa and Santa Teresa, we can also see the Carioca Aqueduct, popularly known as Arcos da Lapa (Lapa Arcs), considered the architectural work of greatest importance of the Old Rio and one of the main symbols of the city.
The duration of the tour is approximately from 7 to 8 hours.
