The tour starts visiting the main postcard of the city, Christ Redeemer, this statue was elected as one the seven wonders of the modern world in 2007. The monument is located on the top of Corcovado hill, at an altitude of 710 meters (2,329 ft); there we will understand why Rio has the title of “Marvelous City”!
You will visit the “Montmartre Carioca” – Santa Teresa neighborhood. It received this name due to the big amount of artists who own atelier or live in this area, a cultural commotion.
The next attraction will be the monument and icon of Rio de Janeiro, Selaron Staircase. The gigantic mosaic is the work of the Chilean artist Jorge Selaron, a true tour around the world. Among the more than 6 thousand pieces that form it, there are tiles from about 140 countries, many of them given to the artist by tourists and fans of his art. Located between Lapa and Santa Teresa, we can also see the Carioca Aqueduct, popularly known as Arcos da Lapa (Lapa Arcs), considered the architectural work of greatest importance of the Old Rio and one of the main symbols of the city.
To visit The Olympic Boulevard is to enjoy the newest attractive place of Rio. Spacious, modern and with a fantastic view of the Guanabara Bay. This local was upgraded for the Olympic Games of 2016. We walk along Mauá Square, “the heart of the port zone of Rio de Janeiro”, around it, we will see beautiful buildings, such as Museum of Tomorrow, Art Museum of Rio (MAR) and the construction of the first skyscraper of the country, building “A Noite” (The Night). Besides that, we will visit the impressive work of the Brazilian artist Eduardo Kobra, a 3,000 square meter mural that represents the integrated spirit of the Olympic Games. “Etnias” Mural (The Ethnicities Mural) “We all are one”, a true message of peace and unity.
Eventually, we will visit the Sugar Loaf and Urca Hill, a very special place, Brazil`s milestone and touristic attraction. Milestone because the city of San Sebastian of Rio de Janeiro was founded at its bottom, and touristic because the inauguration of Sugar Loaf`s tram projected Brazil`s name overseas. It was the first cable car installed in Brazil and the third one in the world. Cable cars are a success!
